Burn Ban

Cleveland County Emergency Management has released that a burn ban has been issued by the NC Department of Agriculture for Cleveland County until further notice.  This bans cancels all existing burning permits and does not allow any open burning during this period.  In accordance with Cleveland County Code of Ordinances Sec. 11-45 at this time the Cleveland County Fire Marshall has prohibited any open burning in Cleveland County until this release is lifted at a later date.  Anyone in violation of this ordinance is subject to fines.  For questions regarding the burn ban please contact Emergency Management at 980-484-4841.

Does your water taste or smell funny?

Some of our citizens are experiencing an earthy taste in their water or a not so pleasant odor.  This is caused by thermal stratification, commonly known as a lake turnover.  This is common and happens usually in late summer.  Thermal Stratification is when the colder water on the bottom of the lakes begins to rise and the warmer waters on the top of the lakes begin to sink.  We want to assure our citizens that the water is continously being tested and has meet every State standard for safe drinking.  The Town of Grover and the City of Kings Mountain will continue to flush in order to eliminate the odor and improve the taste.
